Round 1 of Funding

After 18 months of local fundraising, George’s Fund – set up in the memory of the short and special life of George Price – is ready to support children’s projects right across Herefordshire.

For ‘Round 1’ of funding George’s Fund is focusing on projects which make the most of the outdoors to nurture and improve childrens’ wellbeing, both emotional and physical.

We are looking to award grants of up to £5,000 to projects in Herefordshire which make the most of nature to help children facing personal and physical challenges. We want to give a boost to projects which tap into the power of nature to help make a long-term, meaningful difference to participants who may be facing anything from mental health issues and bereavement through to life limiting illnesses and learning difficulties.

George’s Fund is only made possible thanks to the huge support we have received from across the county. We are so grateful to everyone who has given and hope to inspire more donations so that we can keep helping local children.

Charities, community groups and local projects as well as schools and nurseries are all eligible to apply for funding.

George’s Fund is keen to support projects which make use of the therapeutic benefits of the outdoors for children aged 3 to 11:

  • To help children facing personal and physical challenges.

  • To support children who may otherwise have difficulty accessing outdoor projects and experiences.

  • To help children develop skills for life including resilience.

  • To help children to discover the outdoors and its many benefits.

  • Projects that combine group activities with individual sessions with counsellors and therapists.
